
He was born Jan. 26, 1935, in Biddeford, a son of Ovila and Yvonne (Carrier) Roy. He was educated in Biddeford, graduating from St. Louis High School in the Class of 1953.
He worked as an auto mechanic for several years, and for 25 years, he was an auto parts salesman with Morse and Napa Auto Parts, retiring in 2003. During his career, he had been a parttime real estate broker.
He enjoyed woodworking and small engine repair; for many years, he taught small engine repair in Biddeford, Old Orchard Beach and Massabesic high schools.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Janice Cantara Roy, in 2000, whom he had married on Sept. 21, 1974.
He is survived by: three daughters, Diane Roy of Clearwater, Florida, Deborah Roy of Sanford, and Lisa Thayer of North Waterboro; six grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
Visiting hours will be 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, April 19, at Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm St., Biddeford. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Wednesday, April 20, at Most Holy Trinity Church in Saco. Inurnment will be in Amethyst Mausoleum at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Saco.
