Income tax filing statistics from the Internal Revenue Service indicate that well over half of all tax returns have already been filed – but approximately 20 million filings will be sent in this week as Americans rush to meet the official deadline.

Thanks to holidays in the District of Columbia (where they’re celebrating Emancipation Day on April 15) and here in Maine (where Patriots Day falls on April 18), the deadline to file 2015 income tax returns in Maine and Massachusetts isn’t until Tuesday, April 19. The rest of the nation is required to file by Monday, April 18.

As of April 8, 2016, 10 days before the deadline for most of the nation, slightly more than 107 million tax returns had already been filed:
