Hypnotist show at SHS

Magician and hypnotist David Hall will put on a show at Scarborough High School to benefit Project Graduation on Saturday, April 2, at 6:30 p.m.

Teacher and student volunteers will be on stage for a hilarious night of family fun. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students, seniors and military personnel. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and tickets are also available online at www.eventbrite.com.

Maine Marimba in concert

The Maine Marimba Ensemble will perform at the South Portland Public Library on Saturday, April 2, at 7 p.m. The show is free and open to the public, although seating is limited. StoryWalk offered at Robinson Woods

As part of this year’s annual Authorfest celebration, the Cape Elizabeth Land Trust will host a StoryWalk at Robinson Woods.

Merging reading and hiking, a StoryWalk is a great way to hit the trails and take in a good story at the same time. Beginning on Monday, April 4, visitors to the Wildflower Trail at Robinson Woods will see excerpts from the children’s book, “And Here’s to You,” by David Elliott, posted along the trail.

City library seeks volunteers

The main branch of the South Portland Public Library is looking for energetic and reliable individuals, 14 and older, to join the Youth Services volunteer team. Responsibilities include shelving, tidying up, helping staff set up for and clean up after programs and helping with the Summer Reading Program.

Ideally, volunteers would commit to at least two hours per week on a regular basis. The library will be accepting applications through Tuesday, April 5. Anyone interested should stop by Youth Services or call 767-7660, ext. 3.

Garden club meets April 6

On Wednesday, April 6, at 1 p.m., the Cape Elizabeth Garden Club will host a presentation by Susan Bushnell and Judy Stallworth, officers of the Garden Club Federation of Maine, at the Thomas Memorial Library. Backpacking through Glacier talk scheduled

As part of its Armchair Traveler series, the Scarborough Public Library will offer a virtual backpacking trip to Glacier National Park with presenter Jonathan Rundell.

The event will be held on Wednesday, April 6, at 6:30 p.m. Attendees are invited to take a scenic journey to the magnificent Montana wilderness.

University band in concert at SPHS

The University of Maine Symphonic Band will be in concert at South Portland High School on Wednesday, April 6, at 7 p.m. In addition, musicians with South Portland High School’s Wind Ensemble will join in. The concert is free and open to the public. 

A number of South Portland alumni play with the university band, including Jenny Fletcher, Cole Lemelin and Christian Breau. The university’s symphonic band will also perform at Falmouth High School on April 7 and Gorham High School on April 10.

Comedy act comes to SHS

The Scarborough Athletic Council will host its annual AudioBody, high-tech comedy show fundraiser at Scarborough High School on Friday, April 8, at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 per person. Call 712-4305 to reserve seats or for more information.

Land trust walk offered

The Cape Elizabeth Land Trust is offering a special Winter Tree ID & Cottontail Habitat walk on Saturday, April 9, at 9 a.m. Join Ram Island Farm managers, John Greene and Todd Robbins, and enjoy a lesson in winter tree identification, as well as learning how to improve the New England cottontail habitat.
