WINTER HAVEN, Fla. — Sam Stauble went 3 for 4 with an RBI and Shyler Scates pitched a complete game to help the University of Southern Maine baseball team, ranked fifth nationally, to a 7-4 victory over the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh on Thursday.

Scates allowed three earned runs and 15 hits while walking none in the nine-inning game.

The Huskies (6-2) got two unearned runs in the first inning, and extended the lead to 4-0 in the third. Stauble’s RBI single in the fifth made it 5-3.

Sam Dexter, Matt Bender and Paul McDonough had two hits apiece for Southern Maine.

The Titans fell to 3-8.

ST. JOSEPH’S SPLITS WITH ST. OLAF: Nic Lops hit an RBI double and Noah McDaniel followed with a run-scoring single as the Monks (4-5) used two runs in the top of the 11th inning to take a 7-6 win over St. Olaf (4-5) in the second game to split a doubleheader at Auburndale, Florida.

Lops finished 2 for 6 with two RBI and two runs scored. Taylor Black went 3 for 4 with three runs, while Taylor Reuillard added two hits and three RBI.

Corey McNamara picked up the win with 42/3 innings of relief, allowing one run and striking out five.

Each team scored three runs in the seventh.

The Monks pounded out 12 hits in the opener, but the Oles (4-5) scored three runs in the top of the seventh to win 3-2.

Max McCoomb, Scott Betts and Joey Murphy had two hits apiece in the first game for St. Joseph’s.

Jameson Collins and Murphy hit RBI singles for the Monks.

SOFTBALL

ELMHURST 5, USM 4: Beka Ondracek singled home Morganne Evans with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning send Elmhurst (6-5) to a win over the Huskies in their first game of the day at Clermont, Florida.

Kat McKay went 2 for 3 with a solo home run for Southern Maine. Taylor Lux added a base hit and scored twice.

USM 7, UNION 4: Danni Humphrey drove in four runs on two singles to help the Huskies (8-2) rebound with a win over Union (3-6).

Amber Kelly, Courtney Davis and Mary Caron each hit a double and scored a run for Southern Maine. Davis added an RBI.

Amber Kelly picked up the win, allowing four runs on eight hits while striking out five.

LUTHER 9, BOWDOIN 0: Samantha Bratland pitched a two-hitter to lead Luther (16-1) over the Polar Bears (8-5) in Clermont, Florida.

Bratland struck out 10 and walked three, while Miranda McCay went 2 for 4 with a triple and two RBI.

Katie Gately and Marisa O’Toole had the only hits for Bowdoin.

Bowdoin defeated Grinnell 8-0 later in the afternoon.

WOMEN’S LACROSSE

COLBY 8, CONNECTICUT COLLEGE 7: Lexie Perticone scored three goals to lead the ninth-ranked Mules (4-1, 3-1 NESCAC) over the Camels (3-4, 0-3) in Clearwater, Florida.

Kendall Smith added a pair of goals for the Mules, who led 6-3 at halftime. Sasha Fritts, Chrissy Coveny and Bridget Horwood also scored for Colby.

Colby never trailed in the game, however Conn College tied the game at 2-2 just 14 minutes into the first half.

The Mules scored four of the next five goals to take control for good.

WOMEN’S BASKEBALL

GNAC: The Great Northeast Athletic Conference will split into two six-team divisions beginning with the 2016-17 season.

St. Joseph’s will be in the North Division along with Anna Maria, Lasell, Norwich, Rivier and Simmons, while the South Division will comprise Albertus Magnus, Emmanuel, Johnson & Wales, Mt. Ida, St. Joseph (Connecticut) and Suffolk.

Each team will play a home and an away game against teams within their division, and one game against teams in the opposite division for a total of 16 conference games.

The top four teams in each division will advance to the conference tournament.
