State Rep. Scott Hamann, D-South Portland, has announced that he will be seeking re-election in House District 32, which represents part of Cape Elizabeth and South Portland.

In addition, South Portland City Councilor Brad Fox, a Democrat, has announced that he is seeking election to House District 33, which covers part of South Portland. That seat is currently held by Republican Kevin Battle, who will run again.

Hamann is in his second term in the Maine House of Representatives and serves on the Health and Human Services Committee.

I’m running to continue standing up for education, health care access and economic security,” Hamann said in a press release. “A strong economy tomorrow depends on the investments we make in our students today. They are our future workforce.”

Hamann was unopposed for the District 32 seat in 2014.

Battle serves on the Marine Resources Committee and is the deputy harbormaster for Portland Harbor. He defeated former South Portland Mayor Rosemarie De Angelis for the District 33 seat in 2014.
