
He was born May 27, 1927, in Saco, a son of Agenard and Julia (Charron) Bourgeault, and was educated in Biddeford.
Joseph served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. On Jan. 15, 1949, he married Blanche D. Petit in St. Joseph’s Church in Biddeford.
He was employed for over 10 years with Pepperell Manufacturing in Biddeford; over 10 years at the Saco- Lowell Shops in Saco; 15 years with Arlen Box Co. in Kennebunk; eight years with General Electric in South Portland; and eight years with APPI in Biddeford, retiring in 1995. In his retirement, he worked for several more years at McAllister Machine Shop in Saco.
Joseph was preceded in death by: several sisters and brothers; his daughter, Linda Malloy; and a great-grand-daughter, Kaitlyn Kay Bourgeault.
He is survived by: his wife of 67 years, Blanche Bourgeault of Saco; two sons, Leo E. Bourgeault and his wife Kathie of Saco, and Roger P. Bourgeault and his wife Jane of Charlotte, North Carolina; three daughters, Lillian Camire and her husband Steve of Saco, Nancy Pyer and her husband Roger of Old Orchard Beach, and Pearl Veilleux and her husband Mario of Biddeford; one sister, Anita Leprohon of Biddeford; 17 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren (he was looking forward to meeting two more greatgrandchildren in June); and several nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 22, at Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm St., Biddeford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 23, at St. Joseph’s Church in Biddeford. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Biddeford.
