BIDDEFORD — Surrounded by family and loved ones, Torin Raymond Simonetti, 51, of Biddeford, joined his beloved mom and best friend, Audrey Lakin Shutt, in heaven on Thursday, March 17, 2016.

Torin was born Jan. 21, 1965, in Watertown, Massachusetts. He moved to Biddeford when he was 13 and attended Biddeford High School, graduating with the Class of 1985.

Upon graduation, Torin worked with Creative Work Systems, and remained with them for 30 years! He entered the Creative Work Systems Residential program in 2004 at the age of 39. While there, he met many friends who would become like family: his roommates, John and Ricky; his dear friend, Beth; and his caregivers, Tori and Amanda. He was also especially fond of Pat, Ann, Jason, Josh, Chris and many other Creative Work Systems staff.

Torin loved country music; his favorite station was WOLF 99.9. He would often howl after requesting it to be put on the radio during car rides. He also loved money; it wouldn’t be unusual for him to accumulate a good sum in the form of dollar bills at every family gathering.

Torin had many culinary favorites – 3 Musketeers, Amato’s and Dunkin Donuts caramel iced coffee. He was a sucker for a jelly donut and a good backyard cookout if it included hamburgers and hot dogs with a cold Mountain Dew to wash it down.

Torin took great pride in his work, and was a very dedicated employee. He would always let you know he had to go to work, and would be very anxious if for any reason he had to miss. He was always so proud of his weekly paycheck. He traveled extensively with his mother to many states and exotic ports, including Panama and Cozumel.

Torin brought happiness and laughter to all his nieces and nephews, who adored him. Although he didn’t realize it, with those beautiful blue eyes, he was truly an inspiration, teaching us all something about the value of a smile and unconditional love. He left the best memories with every life he touched.

The family would like to thank Creative Work Systems for all the years of love, support and sense of self-worth it provided their dear brother. They also send a special thank you to his sister Tami, her husband John, and their daughter Johnelle for always being there for Torin; they have been his unsung heroes.

He is survived by: four sisters, Tami Hardy and husband John of Saco, Tracy Donatelli and husband David of Fort Mill, South Carolina, Sue McKay and husband Tom of Bar Harbor, and Barbara Vieira and husband Joe of Providence, Rhode Island; one brother, Domenic Simonetti of Austin, Texas; nine nieces, eight nephews; three greatnieces; and two great-nephews.

Torin will be cremated, and his ashes will be dispersed with those of his beloved mother. A celebration of life will be held at the Hardy home on July 9; all are welcome.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to: Gosnell Memorial Hospice House, 11 Hunnewell Road, Scarborough, ME 04074. The family is so grateful and blessed that their brother was able to receive the compassionate and loving care they provided from this life to the next.
