The jazz ensemble from South Portland High School took the Division 1 top honors at the Maine High School Instrumental Jazz Festival this past weekend. South Portland, which hosted the event, also had a couple students honored for outstanding musicianship – junior Owen Doane on trombone and sophomore Liliana Brandão on voice and flute. In addition, the South Portland jazz combo 1 took first place while the jazz combo 2 took second place.
