
She was born in Bingham on May 16, 1930, the daughter of William and Odile Thibodeau Wilson.
She received her high school education at the former Cathedral High School, graduating in 1949, then attended the former Northeastern Business College, both in Portland.
During her adult years, she was employed by Pratt & Whitney in East Hartford, Connecticut, and the former Portland Copper Manufacturing Co. in South Portland. Mrs. McKee retired from the state of Maine Department of Transportation several years ago after 24 years of service,
Freda was a member of the Maine State Employees Association for Retired Persons, AARP, and Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary Post #832 in South Portland.
Freda was a longtime member of the former St. Margaret’s Parish in Old Orchard Beach. She and her late husband, Robert McKee, who died in 2013 after 50 years of marriage, were in charge of the Mercy Meal Program of the parish for several years.
She is survived by: stepchildren Pamela Paquette and her husband Maurice “Moe,” Terry Lebrun and her husband Roland, all of Old Orchard Beach, Cindy Whitney of Saco, and Wayne McKee and his wife Cheryl of Alfred; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be 9:30- 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 17, at Old Orchard Beach Funeral Home, 36 Portland Ave., Old Orchard Beach. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday in St. Margaret’s Church, corner of Saco Avenue and Old Orchard Street in Old Orchard Beach.
