Recently, I had the visual pleasure of viewing the Maine Art Educators Association show at the Saco Museum. It is entitled “Four Elements and Five Senses” and it was a delight to see.
The exhibitors are art teachers in our public and private schools and if this show is a reflection of the creative and artistic teaching methods they are bestowing on our students then we can be assured that strong curriculums are being pursued. The arts instill the capacity in students to creatively solve problems with critical thinking skills and approaches to thinking outside the box – skills that are needed in the real working world of today.
The show is there until March 18 and I encourage all who can to stop in and see it. It is comforting to know that we have this caliber of an arts work force out there in our schools.
