
He was born June 1, 1992, the son of James and Amy Merrick Dyer. He attended school in Old Orchard Beach. While in attendance there, he participated in football and baseball, and graduated in 2010.
Jim had been employed for more than five years by Hannaford Supermarkets in Kennebunk as a night manager .
He enjoyed music, especially The Beatles and oldtime rock ’n’ roll, playing disc golf and watching the New England Patriots. Jim also enjoyed boating and fishing for “stripers” in the Saco River.
People who knew him best remember him for his infectious smile and great sense of humor.
He was preceded in death by: an aunt and uncle, Doris and Bruce Dunham.
He is survived by: his parents of Old Orchard Beach; three sisters, Jamey Lynne, Colleen and Meagan Dyer, all of Old Orchard Beach; his grandmother, June Shaw of Scarborough; four aunts, Grace Burnell and her husband Anthony of Scarborough, Helen Merrick and her husband Robert Marks of Las Vegas, Jane Yager of New York, and Nancy Boyd and her husband Ray of St. Augustine, Florida; three uncles, Hubert James Merrick III and his wife Sandra of Mount Vernon, David Dyer and his wife Gina of New Hampshire, and Steven Bickford and his wife Susan of Shapleigh; numerous cousins; and the loving community of Old Orchard Beach.
Friends and family may call 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, March 4, at the Dennett, Craig & Pate Funeral Home, 365 Main St., Saco. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 5, at First Parish Congregational Church UCC, 12 Beach St., Saco. Rev. Peter Gray will officiate.
