Authenticity and self-truth are themes explored in the Chocolate Church Arts Center’s theatre production of “Visiting Mr. Green” by Jeff Baron, with performances Friday-Sunday. What starts as a comedy about two men who do not want to be in the same room together becomes a gripping and moving drama as they get to know each other, come to care about each other and open old wounds they’ve been hiding and nursing for years.
Peter Havas portrays 86- year-old widower Mr. Green who is almost hit by a car driven by young corporate executive Ross Gardiner, played by Jonas Werner. Found guilty of reckless driving, Gardiner is ordered to spend the next six months making weekly visits to Mr. Green.
Tickets are $12 in advance and $15 at the door and are available online at chocolatechurcharts.org or by calling the box office (207) 442-8455. The Chocolate Church Arts Center is located at 804 Washington St. in Bath.
