Walk in the Light
My poinsettia plant is still going strong. It is full and vigorous, and it has retained its color beautifully. I even noticed a couple of smaller plants taking root at the base of the plant. I wondered why it has managed to remain this way for such a long period of time, and I realized that it is reaching for the light. Placed near a south-facing window it receives nourishment from the daily illumination. It can survive short periods of dryness, but without the light it will lose strength and fade away. All life on earth moves toward the light. Come spring the flowers will begin to break through, and there will be new life everywhere. Jesus calls us into the light and he fills us with the truth about God. His light guides us along the pathways of life, and without that light our spirits wither and fade away. The light is deep within all believers. It drives out any darkness that might be within us and fills us with a sense of grace and well-being. So let us choose to walk in the light. It is God’s gift to all who believe in him.
