BATH

For the 12th consecutive year, Hyde School in Bath is hosting a five-day music workshop, beginning on Feb. 23 and ending on Feb. 27. The Songwriters Workshop is designed for aspiring high school musicians interested in perfecting their musical craft, both in writing and producing. The Workshop will be led by of Grammy- winning recording artist and Hyde alumni parent Michael McDonald, who has been nominated for induction into the 2016 Songwriters Hall of Fame.

McDonald will be joined by other professionals in the music industry who volunteer their time. This year, the five-day workshop will culminate in a performance on Feb. 27, at 7 p.m. at The Chocolate Church in Bath. The public is welcome and tickets are available at the door for $5.

Students from Hyde School boarding campuses in Woodstock, Connecticut and Bath will be participating with other local area students in writing, producing and performing original music under the guidance of the professionals. The students will be utilizing the state-of-the-art recording studio at the Hyde School in Bath. Remodeled through the generosity of Michael McDonald, the renovated studio space provides an opportunity for students to make professional quality recordings of their music.

“ We are lucky to have such a wealth of talent in our Hyde community that allows us to have people with such amazing gifts who come back and give their time and talents to our students each year,” Hyde Music Director Matt Newberg said. “ We look forward to having the students perform their original songs to an audience and it will be great to have the showcase at The Chocolate Church again.”
