A Standish man was captured Wednesday morning after leading a Cumberland County sheriff’s K-9 team on a 1-mile foot chase through woodlands near Watchic Lake and Route 113.

At 8 a.m. Cumberland County sheriff’s deputies were informed by a state parole officer of the location of Jacorey Vincent Monterio, 22, who was living at 45 Watchic Road, off Route 113. Monterio was wanted for violating probation and had an outstanding warrant for aggravated assault involving a knife.

When deputies were searching the residence the man escaped through a window. A Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Team then tracked the suspect and located him hiding in an abandoned trailer. Monterio surrendered without further incident.
