FALMOUTH — The town will hold a pre-proposal meeting next week for interested developers to ask questions about an 11-acre parcel of land on Route 1.

The meeting, which will be held Feb. 24 in Town Council Chambers at 1 p.m., is open to the public.

The state-owned land has been made available for private development as a result of a partnership between the town and the Maine Department of Transportation. The land, which is at the eastern end of the Maine Turnpike Spur, will be given to the town-selected developer by MDOT; in exchange the developer will have to remove the turnpike overpass and ramps and create a grade-level intersection on Route 1.

The work will have to be approved by the MDOT. The agreement will save MDOT the cost of maintaining and/or rebuilding the spur. The town will maintain the intersection.
