Windham police took to Facebook Friday to urge motorists to avoid driving due to the winter storm moving through the area.
“We are officially getting our *sses kicked, please stay home!!!!” wrote Officer Ernest MacVane at about noon on the department’s Facebook page.
Another message from police warned: “Please stay off the roads if at all possible! The roads are extremely slippery!! And, whatever you do, avoid River Rd south of Rt 202. Always the worst for travelers…we have had numerous crashes and slide-offs.”
Icy roadways led to a three-car collision on Route 302 in Windham Friday morning. The accident, which sent one person to the hospital, caused clogged traffic in both directions along the major commuter route, according to news reports.
