A Portland man was sentenced Friday in U.S. District Court in Portland to 40 months in prison for possession of child pornography.

William Alfred Roscoe, 30, pleaded guilty in June to possessing a laptop computer with numerous pictures and videos showing children engaged in sexually explicit conduct, according to a news release from U.S. Attorney Thomas E. Delahanty II.

Investigators seized Roscoe’s computer in April from the Portland apartment he shared with his girlfriend and her children, the release said. The computer containing the files showed that search terms associated with child pornography had been used and that it also was in the process of downloading new files when federal agents seized it, the release said.
