
He was born Feb. 20, 1959, in Omaha, Nebraska, a son of Dale and Bernadine (Seifert) Cardey. He was a graduate of Arlington High School in Riverside, California.
Steven served with the U.S. Air Force for four years. He had been employed as a driver at Huttig Building Supply for the past two years
He is survived by: two sons, Steven J. “Budie” Cardey II and Michael Cardey of Riverside, California; his mother, Bernadine Cardey of Riverside; one brother, John T. Taylor of Jefferson City, Missouri; four sisters, Loetta Saucier of Utich, Michigan, and Stephanie Knapp, Cathleen Reinhardt and Shawn Cardey, all of Riverside; one step-daughter, Samantha Scofield of Biddeford; and friends Kelly DeCambra, Danielle Barden, Madyson Gagnon, and Chrissy St. Louis and children.
Visiting hours will be 3-6 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 7, at Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm St., Biddeford. A funeral service will be held at noon Monday at the funeral home. A family memorial service will be held in Riverside, California, at a later date.
