City seeks election workers
Any resident interested in working at the polls on Election Day should fill out an application and return it to the City Clerk’s Office. Bank marks milestone
Norway Savings Bank, which was founded in 1866, is celebrating its 150th anniversary with several special events, including a customer appreciation party at each of its 24 branches on Friday, Feb. 5.
The public is invited to visit any bank branch for cake and refreshments. In addition, the first 150 visitors to stop by any branch will receive a free copy of an anniversary book, published to celebrate the bank’s history.
Attendees will also have the chance to enter to win cash prizes and can visit the Norway Savings Bank Facebook page to post the name of their favorite Maine-based nonprofit, which will be entered into a drawing for a $1,500 prize.

Maker Day at library
The Scarborough Public Library is offering a special Maker Day event, 1-4 p.m.on Saturday, Feb. 6, to help celebrate the national Take Your Child to the Library Day.
Turn off your devices, postpone your errands and spend time with your family at the library. A variety of interactive activities and creative spaces will be available. And, of course, there will also be lots of books to read together.

Cul de Sax in concert at city library
The South Portland Public Library will host an afterhours concert featuring Cul de Sax at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 6. The event is free and open to the public, although seating is limited. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
At this concert the band will celebrate the music of immigrant composers, showcasing pieces that demonstrate how immigrant composers have enriched the American musical landscape. Some of the composers on the bill are Bartok, Berlin, Hindemith and Weill.

Theology on Tap at Easy Day
A Theology on Tap event will be held at Easy Day in South Portland on Tuesday, Feb. 9, from 7-9 p.m.
The special guest will be Bishop Robert P. Deeley, head of the Catholic Diocese of Portland. The goal of the event is to bring young adults together in a relaxed atmosphere that features food, drinks, conversation and engaging theology discussions.
These Theology on Tap sessions are organized by Josh Houde, the youth minister at the Good Shepherd Parish in Saco, with the hope of providing a warm, casual environment in which people in their 20s and 30s can come together to learn more about their faith and to feel valued and welcomed in the Catholic Church.

Spring musical tickets on sale
Online tickets for “Pippin,” the spring musical at South Portland High School are now on sale. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students and seniors. The show opens on Friday, April 1. Lyric Theater fundraiser
On Wednesday, Feb. 10, 4-10 p.m., the Elsmere BBQ restaurant on Cottage Road in South Portland will donate 8 percent of all eat-in or take-out orders to Lyric Music Theater.

Tax aid offered at City Hall
Each Monday, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., AARP tax aides will be on hand at South Portland City Hall to offer free income tax preparation and electronic filing to seniors, as well as any tax filer of any age with a low to moderate income. Call 776-7316 to make an appointment.
