SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — Coach Scott Allen of Portland changed goalkeepers Saturday night but even that couldn’t slow the Springfield Falcons, who scored four consecutive goals, a pair on the power play, and downed the Pirates 6-2 at the MassMutual Center.

Craig Cunningham put the Falcons on the board with a power-play goal, beating starting goalie Sam Brittain with a shot through a screen from the left circle.

Greg Carey scored 3:40 later, beating Brittain just under the crossbar as Springfield took a 2-0 lead though the first period.

Michael Bunting scored his power-play goal 3:14 into the second. The Pirates then changed goalies, but Mike McKenna was welcomed with an odd-man rush just 1:09 later as the Falcons made it 4-0.

Rob Flick answered from Chase Balise and Jonathan Racine at 13:17 for Portland.

MacKenzie Weegar added a third-period goal to make it 4-2 before Corey Potter scored twice for Springfield.
