FORT WAYNE, Ind. — C.J. Fair had 27 points and 12 rebounds, and Shane Whittingham added 26 points and 11 rebounds Saturday night as the Fort Wayne Mad Ants defeated the Maine Red Claws, 116-111.
Fort Wayne (13-13) opened with an 8-0 run over the first 2:33, but the Red Claws (14-13) countered with 3-pointers by Malcolm Miller and Omari Johnson. Maine tied it with 5:24 left in the first quarter on a jump shot by Johnson and ended it with a 14-4 run over the final three minutes for a 34-26 lead.
Maine held its lead through the second quarter, but a 9-2 run early in the third, ending with a 3-pointer from Whittingham, made it 70-70. Maine regained the lead, but a driving layup by Anthony Harris with 11 seconds left in the quarter gave Fort Wayne the lead for good at 86-85.
Coty Clarke led Maine with 23 points and 10 boards. Andre Stringer added 19 points and was 5 of 9 on 3-pointers. The Red Claws shot 39 percent from 3-point range, making 16 of 41.
