Longfellow Days, celebrating its 13th year of arts events in Brunswick, returns Feb. 7 for 13 events. The schedule is as follows:

Sunday, Feb. 7

Longfellow Days Poetry Reading, 1 p.m., in the Fireplace Room at Curtis Memorial Library, in Brunswick. These readings feature Maine poets Carolyn Gelland, Kristen Lindquist and Mark Swiedom. Refreshments will be served. This event is free.

Tuesday, Feb. 9

Longfellow Days Book Talk and Signing, 7 p.m. in Daggett Lounge, Thorne Hall, Bowdoin College. Author, John William Babin from the Maine Historical Society’s Wadsworth / Longfellow House. Babin will read from and talk about his new book, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow in Portland: The Fireside Poet. This event is free and open to the public.

Friday, Feb. 12

Performance of “Best Beloved,” a 19th Century Romance, 7:00p.m. in Lancaster Lounge, Moulton Union, Bowdoin College. This readers’ theater focuses on the courtship and marriage of Longfellow and his wife, Fanny. Featuring Bowdoin College Theater faculty: Abigail Killeen and Diomedes Koufteros, with musical accompaniment (violin and cello) by Kathryn and Evan Pillsbury. This event is free and open to the public.

Saturday, Feb. 13

Longfellow Days Silent Film: “ Evangeline,” 11 a. m., Smith Auditorium, Sills Hall, Bowdoin College. This 1929 version of Longfellow’s romantic epic work features gorgeous Dolores Del Rio and a musical score – thus making it not 100 percent silent. Opening remarks by Tricia Welsch, Professor of Film Studies at Bowdoin. Free and open to the public.

Sunday, Feb. 14

Longfellow Days Literary Service, 10 a.m., Unitarian Universalist Church, corner of Pleasant and Middle Streets. Rev. Sylvia Stocker speaks on love for reflection this Valentine’s Day. Also, view the pulpit Bible Longfellow signed and donated to his Unitarian church in 1878.

Sunday, Feb. 14

Longfellow Days Poetry Reading, 1 p.m., in the Fireplace Room at Curtis Memorial Library, Brunswick. These readings feature Maine poets Jim Donnelly, Susann Pelletier and Anna Wrobel. Refreshments will be served and the event is free.

Wednesday, Feb. 17

Winter Wisdom Lecture: School Days, School Days, 12:15 p.m., Morrell Meeting Room, Curtis Memorial Library, Brunswick. Charles Dorn, Bowdoin Associate Professor of Education, speaks on 19th-century educational settings, philosophies, and practices that Longfellow’s generation, and their children, might have experienced. Presented in partnership with Longfellow Days. This event is free.

Thursday, Feb. 18

Community Poetry Reading at Thornton Oaks, 10 a.m., Merrymeeting Room, Thornton Oaks, 25 Thornton Way (off Baribeau Drive), Brunswick. An informal gathering, facilitated by poets Ted and Ruth Bookey, and open to everyone. Come listen or share a favorite poem. Refreshments will be served. The event is free.

Friday, Feb. 19

Longfellow Days at the Pejepscot, 10 a.m to noon, at the Pejepscot Historical Society, 159 Park Row, Brunswick. Family-oriented activities during school vacation include creating a 19th-century craft and listening to stories of Longfellow’s boyhood and world with Kathleen Neumann of the Maine Historical Society. Also, view the period clothing exhibition, DRESS: 19th and 20th Century Gowns from the Pejepscot Collection. Free.

Sunday, Feb. 21

Longfellow Days Poetry Reading, 1 p.m., in the Fireplace Room at Curtis Memorial Library, Brunswick. These readings feature Maine poets Daniel Mahoney, Robin Merrill and Jeffrey Thomson. Refreshments will be served. The event is free.

Thursday, Feb. 25

Community Poetry Reading, 10 a.m., The Highlands, Georgetown Parlor, Maine Lodge, 30 Governors Way, Topsham. Writers from The Highlands and beyond are invited to bring and share poems, with poets Ted and Ruth Bookey facilitating. Refreshments will be served. This event is free.

Saturday, Feb. 27

Open Mic Poetry and Celebration with Wesley McNair, 7 p.m., Unitarian Universalist Church, corner of Pleasant and Middle Streets. Community Poetry open mic readings to mark Henry Wadsworth Longfellow’s 209th birthday, featuring Wesley McNair in his final public appearance as Maine’s Poet Laureate. Come read or listen and enjoy some cake. Free and open to the public.

Sunday, February 28th

Longfellow Days Poetry Reading, 1 p.m., the Fireplace Room at Curtis Memorial Library, Brunswick. These readings feature Maine poets: Rachel Flynn, Megan Grumbling and Marita O’Neill. Refreshments. Free.
