BLACKSBURG, Va. — Brice Johnson scored 19 points and grabbed 17 rebounds Sunday, leading No. 2 North Carolina over Virginia Tech 75-70 for its 12th straight victory.
Roy Williams earned his 350th victory with the Tar Heels and a unique place in basketball history, becoming the first NCAA coach to win at least 350 games at two Division I schools.
He won 418 games at Kansas before joining North Carolina in 2003.
North Carolina (18-2, 7-0 ACC), is off to its best start in the conference since the beginning of the 2000-01 season.
(16) PROVIDENCE 82, (4) VILLANOVA 76: Ben Bentil scored 10 of his 31 points in overtime, including two clutch free throws with 14.7 seconds left that led the Friars (17-3, 5-2 Big East) past the Wildcats (17-3, 7-1) in Philadelphia.
(8) SMU 89, TEMPLE 80: The Mustangs (18-1, 7-1 AAC) became the last Division I team to lose this season when Devin Coleman scored a career-high 23 points to lead the Owls (11-7, 5-2) to a win in Philadelphia.
(9) IOWA 83, PURDUE 71: Jarrod Uthhoff scored 13 of his 22 points in the first half and the Hawkeyes (16-3, 7-0 Big Ten) toppled the Boilermakers (17-4, 5-3) in Iowa City, Iowa.

(3) Notre Dame 80, Virginia Tech 41: Brianna Turner scored 18 points and the Irish (19-1, 7-0 ACC) shook off a slow start to beat the Hokies (14-5, 2-4) in South Bend, Indiana.
(7) Ohio State 67, Rutgers 58: Kelsey Mitchell scored 22 points and the Buckeyes (15-4, 7-1 Big Ten) beat the Scarlet Knights (12-8, 3-5) in Piscataway, New Jersey.
WOMEN’S HOCKEY
NEW HAMPSHIRE 3, MAINE 0: Carlee Toews had a goal and an assist as the Wildcats (10-16-1, 7-10 Hockey East) defeated the Black Bears (7-18-0, 3-14-1) in Orono.
Toews scored 9:52 into the first period. Cassandra Vilgrain and Sara Carlson scored in the second period.
Kyra Smith stopped 32 shots for the Wildcats. Maine’s Mariah Fujimagari made 21 saves.
