All through his 35 years, Daniel was magnetic character with a kind heart and sensitive a soul. Always armed with a joke or witty comment, Daniel would flood our phones and inboxes to make us laugh and remind us how much he cared. He was our son, our brother and our loyal friend. He helped many of us through dark times, and he was our confidante when we needed an ear. He left us too soon.
Daniel was born in Rutland, Massachusetts, and moved to Londonderry, New Hampshire, early in life. There, he enjoyed his happy, formative K-12 years. His friendships made while learning the drums, playing soccer and lacrosse, biking, skiing in the White Mountains, and exploring photography would remain with him to the very end .
After graduating from Londonderry High School in 1998, Daniel went on to earn with honors his Bachelor’s degree in economics from Boston’s Northeastern University in 2003. He spent many years after graduation in Washington, D.C., serving as a financial analyst.
For a small time, he lived with family in the town that once served as his summer vacation spot: Biddeford Pool, Maine. He loved the water, and took up surfing and skateboarding. When he moved back to Boston, Daniel spent his time visiting family, reconnecting with old friends, and making new ones along the way.
Daniel is survived by: his parents, James and Joan Emerson; his brother, Andrew Emerson; his sister- and brother-inlaw, Jacqueline and Mark Walpole; his paternal grandmother, Dorothy Emerson; his maternal grandfather, Norman Harper; six aunts; five uncles; 13 cousins; and countless friends who loved him very much.
Inspired by the wonderful nurses who helped him throughout the years, Daniel recently decided to pursue a nursing degree. For that reason, Daniel’s family will establish a scholarship for other aspiring nurses in his name.
Friends and loved ones are invited to join the Emerson family to say goodbye to Daniel on Saturday, Jan. 23, at 11:30 a.m. in Biddeford. A Roman Catholic Mass will be held in his honor at St. Joseph’s Church. Daniel’s burial will take place at a later date.
