GrowSmart Maine, a Portland nonprofit that works to build a more sustainable future for Maine, has hired Janet Sawyer as business development director and promoted Andrew Zarro to community engagement director.
Sawyer, of Dover-Foxcroft, previously worked as business development director for Piscataquis County Economic Development Council. She also owned her own business and managed outside sales for a Maine-based office products distributor.
Zarro, of Portland, was previously the development director of GrowSmart Maine. He previously led several small nonprofits working on a range of missions including as executive director of a criminal justice policy reform organization and as executive director of a Boston Main Streets District in Jamaica Plain.
GrowSmart Maine also elected Rachel Bouvier, Ph.D. and The Hon. Ted Koffman to their board of directors.
Bouvier is founder and principal of rbouvier consulting, a private consulting firm specializing in socio-economic analysis, market and economic research, statistical analysis and community economic development.
Koffman, who served as Maine Audubon’s executive director from 2009-2014, previously worked as an administrator at College of the Atlantic for 33 years.
