The occupants of the home at 8 Myers Lane in Sanford had to flee Thursday morning as fire engulfed the two-story house in the Springvale section of the city.

The Sanford Fire Department said it received a call at 4:40 a.m. When crews arrived, they encountered a home fully ablaze.

The house, which was destroyed, is described in real estate records as a five-bedroom, 2,600-square-foot home.

The state Fire Marshal’s Office sent an investigator to Sanford on Thursday. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
