There you go again, Portland Press Herald, insulting and putting down one of your regular readers by calling me a racist (“Our View: Gov. LePage should not speak for Maine on race,” Jan. 9). I have no qualms talking about drug dealers and white Maine women in the same sentence.

In my experience, drug dealers come in all sizes, shapes and colors. I think of them as a class and not a race. Obviously you at the Portland Press Herald think of drug dealers as one particular race.

I don’t mind calling these drug dealers “scumbags” for what they are doing to the people of Maine. If that hurts their and the Press Herald’s feelings, then too bad. It is what it is.

I get it – they are humans like me. Maybe they got off to a rough start through broken family, poverty and abuse. I’d be the first to do everything in my power to help them turn their lives around if they would step forward. Until then, they are still scumbags. Despite your propensity to insult me, I will still be reading your paper for the local sports results, which you generally get right.
