America has welcomed hordes of immigrants in the past. It was expected that they would learn English, become self-sufficient, assimilate, declare their allegiance to the U.S. and earn the right to apply for citizenship.

Many Americans blame the Muslims for the spread of world terror and do not trust them. They must change to earn our trust.

It would help if their imams would begin or end their prayers by asking their worshippers to recite the Pledge of Allegiance and salute the American flag. Those who disagree should be expelled and returned to their country.

Are they not here at our sufferance?
