Congratulations to the South Portland Middle School “Riot Crew” Robotics Team for representing South Portland well at the Maine First Lego League State Competition in Augusta on Saturday.

The team received praise for their innovative project presentation and for their teamwork in the teamwork challenge. In addition, they finished seventh out of 60 teams in the robot challenge and they received the second-place programming trophy. Most importantly, they have made incredible growth from the beginning of the season in their confidence and their communication and problem-solving skills.

There were also two other teams from South Portland at the competition. The Small/Kaler “Bins of Doom” and the Holy Cross “Crusaders,” both “rookie” or first-year teams, also had a great showing. The teams exemplified the First Lego League Core values for showing gracious professionalism and extraordinary enthusiasm and spirit.

Thank you to everyone that supported these three teams this season.
