I appreciate the Tri-Town Weekly’s coverage of Freeport. It helps me understand what is going on. I was very disappointed by this year’s election results, not because of who won, but by the voting participation rate. Very few voters are making decisions for most of the town.

The following reflects the voting participation rate for November, as well as the results of the state ballot questions, which will have a tax impact.

Local ballot:

Total number of registered voters for councilor at large: 6,420; voted for office: 1,685.

Total number of registered voters for RSU 5 Board of Directors: 6,420; voted for office: 1,827.

Total number of registered voters for Sewer District Trustee 1-year term: 6,420; voted for office: 1,254.
