Thumbs up to Think Tank Biddeford for its new coworking space in the former Pepperell Mill. Think Tank founder Patrick Roche said he thinks Biddeford is a great place to do business, and that now is the time to “grow Biddeford back to where it was many years ago.”
Thumbs down to the way Tim Hortons closed several of its southern Maine locations, including the one in Biddeford, last week. While we understand tough decisions must be made in business, employees of the stores
were reportedly not given advanced notice of the closings and now face unexpected unemployment heading into the holiday season.
A big thumbs up to everyone who contributes – in any way they contribute – to make sure Thanksgiving Day is a good one for as many as possible. Thanks to those who donate to food pantries and food rescue operations;
thanks to those who invite a neighbor for dinner; thanks to those who prepare and serve free meals to those who need the hot meal, and to those who need to be with others on the Thanksgiving holiday. Thanks to the nurses and doctors, cops, corrections officers, firefighters and EMTs who work on this day – yes, they’re paid to do so, but still, they deserve thanks.
Thumbs up to the Thornton Academy community, which showed up in full force to celebrate the TA football team winning its second straight state championship last weekend. The stands on the TA side of the field were filled on Saturday and truly helped eliminate any kind of homefield
advantage Portland had at Fitzpatrick Stadium. It was also great to see the Saco Police Department and Fire Department give the Trojans an escort back to the TA campus.
