The Scots of Bonny Eagle looked especially sharp on the football field and the cross country trails this autumn. Kevin Cooper’s gridiron boys continue to vie for dominance in A South, compiling a 5-3 regular-season record in 2015 and earning the playoffs three-seed. They trounced No. 6 South Portland in the quarters, 47-7, then inched past No. 2 Deering (whom they had pretty much murdered in Week 5) in the semis by the slimmest of margins, 20-19. They fell, however, to eventual State victors Thornton in the Regional Final, 24-14.

Meanwhile, Andrea Johnson’s cross country girls captured first at Regionals and States both. Kialeigh Marston, Amy Beaumier and Elisabeth Redwood pushed the team to championship heights, then on to New Englands.

Kelley Champagne’s volleyballers proved their mettle in their very first year on the varsity circuit, finishing 10-4 in the regular season to break into the tournament ranked ninth. They fell to No. 8 Yarmouth in the first round, but retired for the season with plenty to pride themselves on.

Caterina Riitano’s field hockey squad displayed great improvement this fall. The team stumbled into last place in 2014, winning just one game of 14 and giving the postseason a wide berth; 12 months later, however, they finished 5-8-1 and broke into the bracketing ranked 10th. Yes, they bounced early, losing 3-2 to No. 7 Falmouth in the prelims, but they’re clearly on an upswing.

Boys soccer missed the tournament by just one slot, finishing 13th at 4-8-2; girls soccer, however, sharpened their game substantially this year. Like their field hockey friends, Ed Taylor’s girls posted a lackluster 2014 at 2-10-2 only to rocket forward to 7-6-1 in 2015, good enough for No. 10 and a playoffs road game. They fell to No. 7 Deering 3-0 in that matchup, but are yet another Scots squad to keep an eye on.
