Keith Martin, 50, owns and operates Casco Bay Lawn Care in Scarborough. This time of year, leaf removal keeps him busy, like this huge pile at an apartment complex on Turner Street in Portland. Martin uses a giant vacuum to suck the leaves into his truck. “I like to be outdoors and doing physical activity,” said Martin, who’s owned his business for 25 years. “It’s an instant gratification job. It’s a mess when you arrive and looks great when you leave.” In the winter, when Martin manages snow removal for his clients, “the weather is the hardest part,” he said.
