An Auburn woman who suffered severe head injuries when the car she was riding in crashed into a moose last week remained in critical condition Sunday night.

Taylor Norcross, 27, is being treated in the intensive care unit at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, where she has been put into a medically induced coma.

She was a passenger in an Infiniti sedan driven by her fiancé, Frank Gatto, 39, of Auburn, when the car crashed into the moose at about 8 p.m. Wednesday in the northbound lane of the Maine Turnpike near the Gray exit.

Gatto was not injured.
