Heather Masse concert

On Saturday, Nov.7, Heather Masse of The Wailin’ Jennys will be in concert at North Windham Union Church at 7 p.m. This is a Music with a Mission concert and Masse has selected to support SMART Child and Family Services with the community proceeds from the concert. Tickets are $15 for all seats and are available online at www.mwamconcerts.com or at the door. The box office opens at 6 p.m. Seating is general admission. Democrats meet

The Windham Dems will hold their regular meeting on Monday, Nov. 9, from 7-8 p.m. at the Windham Public Library. All Democrats are welcome and encouraged to attend.

Veterans Day ?open house

A Veterans Day ceremony and open house, hosted by Windham VFW Post 10643, will be held at the Windham Veterans Center on Wednesday, Nov. 11, at 11 a.m., announced VFW Commander Willie Goodman. Maine’s first lady, Ann LePage, will be the keynote speaker and patriotic songs will be performed by the Windham Chamber Singers. Boy Scout Troop 805 will assist in the activities. Winners of this year’s VFW-sponsored essay competitions will be introduced and their essays will be read. A special Vietnam Memorial Dedication will be held in the Memorial Garden, following the program. The public is invited to attend; refreshments will be provided.

Christmas food baskets and toys

From Monday, Nov. 9, through Thursday, Dec. 3, Windham Food Pantry will be taking applications for Christmas baskets and the annual Toy Workshop. Applications must be in person Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. No phone calls, please. Reminder: Programs are for Windham residents only and require proof of residency.

Christmas stockings

St. Ann’s Episcopal Church every year fills Christmas stockings for children in need through the Windham/Raymond school system. They stuff 100 stockings for girls and boys and deliver them to the guidance counselors and school nurses in grades K-8. If you could benefit from this program please contact your local school guidance counselor or nurse.

Vets to meet

Windham VFW Post 10643 will hold their regular meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 11, at the Veterans Center, Memorial Drive, North Windham. Supper and social hour at 5 p.m. will be followed by a business meeting at 6 p.m.

Thanksgiving for seniors

On Thursday, Nov. 12, Community Cafe? will serve a catered traditional Thanksgiving meal at Unity Gardens. Donation is $5. A raffle will be held following the meal. Craft fair, lunch

On Saturday, Nov. 14, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., the annual Christmas Craft Fair will be held at North Windham Union Church. Featured items include crafts, wreaths, baked goods, fudge, silent auction, books and knit items. A lunch of homemade soup and lobster roll will be available. Good books, ?baked goods

On Saturday, Nov. 21, from 10 a.m. to 3:30 pm., the Friends of the Windham Public Library will hold their annual Book & Bake Sale. The preview sale is Friday, Nov. 20, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. with a $10 fee for each person entering the building that evening. Prices will be $1 for adult hard cover books, 50 cents for adult paperback; $1 for audio/visual; 25 cents for children’s books (except hard cover chapter books) and 50 cents for hardcover chapter books. Senior Center activities

The Lakes Region Senior Center at Little Falls Activity Center, 40 Acorn St., Gorham, is open from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Friday, it opens at 10:30 a.m. It will be closed on Nov. 11 for Veterans Day and Nov. 25-27 for Thanksgiving. Non-food pantry

St. Ann’s Episcopal Church, near the corner of River Road and Windham Center Road, holds an “Essentials Pantry” from 8:30-9:30 a.m. on Nov. 28 and Dec. 19. Non-food items such as cleaning products, personal hygiene products and, this month, hats, mittens and gloves for both children and adults will be available. Please bring in proof of residency in the Lakes Region. There is no charge.

Cancer support group at Unity

Beginning on Friday, Nov. 20, a new support group will be meeting on the third Friday each month at 1:30 p.m. at Unity, 54 River Road, Windham. The group is in partnership with the Cancer Community Center in South Portland and is open to people who are affected by cancer, their friends, family and caregivers.
