Magazine history topic of talk

Kathleen Fleury, a Yarmouth native and editor-in-chief of Down East Magazine, will speak Tuesday, Nov. 17, at 7 p.m., at the Yarmouth History Center, 118 East Elm St. She will discuss the history of the longstanding Maine magazine. This event is free for members of Yarmouth Historical Society and $5 for all others.

Documentary on water screens ?Nov. 19

The Yarmouth Historical Society and Royal River Conservation Trust will present a free screening of the film, “Blue Gold: World Water Wars,” Thursday, Nov. 19, at 7 p.m., at the Yarmouth History Center, 118 East Elm St., as part of the Royal River Film Series. The award-winning documentary examines the environmental and political dimensions of the planet’s water supply and highlights ways in which communities are taking action to improve access to water.

This is the fifth film in a series planned jointly by the Yarmouth Historical Society and the Royal River Conservation Trust. The series will continue on the third Thursday of each month through March (no film in December). Next is “The Salt of the Earth, Jan. 21, at 7 p.m.

Reading group choices listed

Merrill Memorial Library has announced its selections for upcoming Readers Circle book discussions. The group meets the last Thursday of the month at 7 p.m. The books chosen are: “The Soloist,” by Mark Salzman, Nov. 19; and “World to Come,” by Dara Horn, Jan. 28, 2016 (no program in December).
