Born May 16, 1921, to Helen Jenkins Tilley and Martin E. Tilley in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, she was raised in New Hampshire and eventually moved to Biddeford.
Marcia graduated from Biddeford High School in 1939 and went on to work in Saco Lowell Shops during World War II. During that time, she met her husband Camille H. Roy and they married Aug. 14, 1948. They lived for a brief time on Chebeague Island, then settled back in Biddeford. They had two daughters, April A. Laverriere of Biddeford, and Tracyann B. Roy of Gilbert, Arizona.
While her girls grew, she was a homemaker, and took in ironing and babysitting to help make ends meet. Marcia was a “mom” to many of her girls’ friends, making her home their home whenever needed. She started working for Corning Components and retired after 17 years in 1988.
She loved her church and made many lifelong friends through Bible Baptist in Saco.
Marcia is survived by: her two girls; four grandsons, Jason Laverriere, and Chad Laverriere of Biddeford and their wives, Dawn Littlefield Laverriere and Maresi Hill Laverriere, Jacob Dube of South Portland, and Jordan Dube of Saco; five great-grandchildren, Kyle, Zachary, Kobe, Marc, and Lola; nephew Jack Tilley and his wife Julia and their three girls and their families of Tucson, Arizona; and niece, Glenn Tilley Ford and her children and their families of Hampton, New Hampshire.
In lieu of flowers, any donations can be made to Bible Baptist Church for the “Operation Christmas Child fund,” a charity she loved very much, at www.samaritianspurse.org/occ.
