OLD ORCHARD BEACH — Dorothy Louise Frizzle, 79, passed away Oct. 30, 2015, at Pine Point Center, Scarborough.
Dottie was born on June 29, 1936, in Bridgton, the daughter of Harry and Herberta Gray McKenney. She was a 1954 graduate of Potter Academy in Sebago and a 1959 graduate of Gorham State Teachers College.
She married William Frizzle on June 21, 1958, and relocated to Ocean Park, where they made their home.
Dottie was an elementary school teacher for the City of Saco for 38 years, teaching at both Young School and C. K. Burns School. She loved teaching, especially challenging students who she was able to mold into successful students; this is where her special gift for teaching was particularly rewarding.
After retirement from teaching, Dottie worked as a sales clerk at the Studio Gift Shop in Ocean Park.
Dorothy was a member of the Maple Grove Grange in Sebago and the York County Retired Teachers Organization. She loved collecting cookbooks and antiquing at flea markets. Dottie also loved to read and play the piano.
Dorothy is survived by her husband of 58 years, William A. Frizzle.
Friends and family are invited to attend an hour of visitation beginning at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 3, followed by a funeral service with Reverend Beverly Lowell officiating at noon at Dennett, Craig & Pate Funeral Home, 365 Main St., Saco. Burial will follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
