BOSTON — DeMar DeRozan scored 23 points and Terrence Ross had 13 of his 21 in the fourth quarter Friday night as the Toronto Raptors took command in the second half and beat the Boston Celtics, 113-103.
DeMarre Carroll scored 10 of his 21 points in the third quarter, and Kyle Lowry finished with 14 points and nine assists for the Raptors.
Isaiah Thomas led Boston with 25 points. Avery Bradley added 13, including a 3-pointer that got Boston within 108-99 with 1:54 left during a rally that came much too late.
Ross hit six of his first seven shots in the fourth quarter to help the Raptors secure the lead they built in the third by capitalizing on Boston’s many mistakes.
Toronto held the Celtics without a field goal for a stretch of nearly five minutes in the third quarter and outscored Boston 31-20 in the period.
The score was 54-54 at halftime before the Raptors blew it open in the third quarter by forcing the Celtics into a sequence of turnovers and missed shots.
Carroll hit consecutive 3-pointers, and Luis Scola made a layup and a 3-pointer during a 13-2 run that gave Toronto an 82-68 lead.
Boston went without a field goal from Amir Johnson’s 3-pointer with 6:05 left in the period until Thomas drove for a layup with 52 seconds remaining.
CAVALIERS 102, HEAT 92: LeBron James scored 29 points, Kevin Love added 24 with 14 rebounds and Cleveland won its home opener.
James was 13 of 19 from the field for Cleveland, which pulled away midway through the second half to win for the second time in three games.
JAZZ 99, 76ERS 71: Derrick Favors had 20 points and 12 rebounds, and Rodney Hood scored 17 points to lead Utah at Philadelphia.
With reserve Alec Burks adding 15 points, the Jazz used multiple 13-0 runs to build a 32-point lead and put away the hapless Sixers.
PISTONS 98, BULLS 94: Marcus Morris scored 26 points, Andre Drummond had 20 points and 20 rebounds, and Detroit took control at the start of overtime at Auburn Hills, Michigan.
The Pistons are 3-0 for the first time since winning their first four games in 2008-09. They have been impressive on defense and held Derrick Rose of Chicago scoreless until the fourth quarter. They have held every opponent to fewer than 95 points this season.
THUNDER 139, MAGIC 136: Russell Westbrook banked in a 3-pointer from just inside halfcourt at the end of regulation on his way to 48 points, Kevin Durant scored 43 and Oklahoma City rallied at Orlando, Florida, to win in double overtime.
WIZARDS 118, BUCKS 113: Bradley Beal scored 14 of his 26 points in the fourth quarter and Washington came back from a 13-point deficit at Milwaukee.
SPURS 102, NETS 75: Kawhi Leonard had 16 points and Tim Duncan added 15 as San Antonio regrouped after a sluggish start at home.
HAWKS 97, HORNETS 94: Dennis Schroder made a two-point guard lineup look good by scoring 14 points and Atlanta, at home, held off Charlotte’s late comeback.

MEL DANIELS, the Hall of Fame center who helped the Indiana Pacers win three American Basketball Association titles, died in Sheridan, Indiana. He was 71.
BULLS: Chicago picked up team options for the 2016-17 season on guard Tony Snell and forward Doug McDermott.
