Firefighters responded to a fire at a home on Maplewood Road in the York County town of Newfield that resulted in at least one injury Wednesday.
The fire was reported shortly before 2 p.m. Four people were inside when the fire started and initially all got out safely, authorities said. However, one resident went back inside in an effort to rescue his dog and was injured, officials said.
The extent of the man’s injuries was not immediately available. The fate of the dog wasn’t immediately known.
Firefighters were still at the scene at 4:30 p.m. An investigator with the State Fire Marshal’s Office has been assigned to probe the cause of the fire and the circumstances surrounding the man’s injuries.
