Two Westbrook residents have been arrested in connection with last month’s burglary of a Maine State Trooper’s residence in Standish.

On Friday, Mark Lindholm, 43, and Meggan Wainwright, 34, of 473 Methodist Road in Westbrook, were arrested and charged with the burglary and theft at Trooper Joseph Bureau’s house in early September. According to Maine Department of Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland, two handguns and a rifle were stolen as well as a state police ID and other personal items. Initially, uniforms were also believed to have been taken but were later located packed away at Bureau’s residence.

The arrests came after a burglary investigation by Falmouth police Detective Jeff Pardue uncovered information linking the couple to the burglary at the trooper’s residence. Working with state police detectives and Computer Crimes Unit investigators, Pardue obtained a search warrant for the couple’s home, McCausland said.

On Friday evening a team of Falmouth, Westbrook and state police officers searched the house and Lindholm and Wainwright were taken into custody without incident. As a result numerous items of evidence directly linking them to the burglary at Bureau’s residence were discovered, but the trooper’s three stolen guns have not been located. Evidence of other crimes was also discovered and the investigation will be ongoing as detectives sort through the evidence, McCausland said.
