I believe that Bette Brunswick is the best qualified and most experienced candidate running for mayor.
Her qualifications are significant: a degree from Wentworth, certified Saco substitute teacher, owns her own business, served as the governing board president of First Parish Church in Portland, an engineering mentor in the Scarborough schools, docent for Portland Historic Landmarks and a Cub Scout leader.
Her experience is considerable: former Saco city councilor for Ward 3, current acting board chair for Saco Main Street (formerly Saco Spirit), a founding member of the Saco Citizens for Sensible Government (formerly Saco Citizens for Sensible Taxes) since that group organized in 2012, and Bette has served on the library board, the Portland Area Comprehensive Transportation Committee (PACTS), our Cable and Welfare Committees and served as council liaison to Saco Spirit.
Betteās tireless efforts while councilor for the benefit of all the citizens of Saco, her leadership, budget knowledge, concern for our rising taxes, support for education and fostering open communication will bring about the change that Saco needs for its future.
