This week the entrepreneurial couple behind a planned new brewpub in South Portland announced the name of their new venture – Foulmouthed.
In addition, on Tuesday, Oct. 6, Julia and Craig Dilger were set to hold a community meet and greet at the CIA Cafe? to acquaint their Knightville neighbors with the progress on their redevelopment project.
In mid-April the Dilgers announced they had purchased a former auto repair shop on the corner of A and Ocean streets, which they intend to turn into South Portland’s first commercial brewery and attached eatery.
This week the Dilgers said they named their brewpub Foulmouthed as “a play on words dating back to 1658 when the entire region was known as Falmouth.”
“The name also tips its hat to the city’s seafaring history and the many salty conversations between sailors on the waterfront,” the couple said.
The goal, according to a press release, is for the Dilgers to have their new brewery up and running by the spring of 2016.
They plan to brew German-style lagers, Belgian sours and American wild ales, the press release said. The plan is for the attached eatery to seat about 45 patrons and for the whole business to exude an “unpretentious, yet modern and comfortable aesthetic.”
With their architecture and engineering plans now in hand, the couple hopes to receive the necessary building permits later this month.
