A garage sought by a business and improvements for a college softball field are two of several items Gorham planners will discuss at its regular meeting next week.
Items continued from last month include a request by Susan Duchaine for expanded office space and a 48-by-60-foot garage for Design Dwellings Inc. at 166 Narragansett St., in the Narragansett Development District. The public hearing continues from the Sept. 14 meeting held on a Jewish holiday that prevented an abutter who opposes the project from attending.
Next’s week’s Planning Board meeting is set for 7 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 5, in the Gorham Municipal Center, 75 South St.
Planners last month also tabled to Monday a University of Southern Maine request to renovate an existing softball field on its Gorham campus. The project calls for leveling the field, building a grandstand with 350 stadium seats, new press box, concession building, restrooms and new dugouts.
Gorham Town Planner Tom Poirier said Tuesday the university’s “estimated overall” cost is $1.5 million.
Casco Federal Credit Union also returns hoping for final approval to construct a new building and drive-through at 393 Ossipee Trail. The credit union proposal would relocate the branch from its home in the building that housed the now-closed Nicely’s Market, 397 Ossipee Trail.
Agenda items not discussed last month because of time constraints include a contract zone requested by Sebago Brewing Co. for a brewery, warehouse and restaurant proposed on lower Main Street at Mosher’s Corner.
In another item held from the September meeting, Jon Smith of Great Falls Construction is seeking approval of a master sign plan for 109 Main St., where he is building the new home for a Subway Restaurant and an Aroma Joe’s coffee shop.
The Planning Board’s agenda includes a discussion of a proposal by Shaw Brothers Construction, which has a headquarters at 341 Mosher Road, to expand its “aggregate handling area, stockyard and laydown areas” to undeveloped properties at 341, 351, 355, 359 and 363 Mosher Road.
