Born Sarah Ann Harriman on April 3, 1928 in Biddeford, she was a daughter of Leo and Amy (O’Neil) Harriman. She was raised in Biddeford and graduated from St. Joseph’s High School in Portland, Class of 1945.
Sally became married to Charles Pollock on July 6, 1949.
She was employed by Saco-Lowell Shops for several years and was a homemaker who enjoyed her family. Sally also worked for Joseph Deering, and later, Garland Manufacturing in Saco for 20 years, retiring in 1989.
During retirement, she enjoyed wintering in Florida with her husband, Charles. They recently celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary.
An accomplished seamstress, Sally enjoyed designing clothing and came to know much about fabric and material. She designed and produced all the dresses for three of her daughters’ weddings, as well as for other friends. She also enjoyed knitting and crochet and was always creating beautiful and useful gifts for those she loved. She truly became an expert in the fiber arts. Her spirit of generosity seemed to know no bounds – she shared her time and talents always, and only wanted the best for everyone she loved and came to know.
Sally also loved to thoroughly research any subject that took her interest. One example being genealogy. She literally spent months and years researching hers and her husband’s ancestry and sometimes did for friends as well. If there was an answer to be uncovered, it would not escape her determination and perseverance.
Sally also loved food and cooking her whole life. It could be said it was a passion for her in any form. In her younger years, you may have found her foraging for berries, greens or mushrooms or digging clams during a summer low tide at her beloved Goose Rocks Beach.
Her interests were varied, even eclectic, and much too numerous to mention here. Suffice to say, Sally loved life, loved her family and friends, and most of all loved the Lord.
She was a parishioner of Most Holy Trinity Church. She was past president of the Catholic Woman’s Club and wrote for the Church World Newspaper.
