BATH — “How Social Security Works,” a community read and public discussion series, will be held at local libraries in Bath, Topsham, Richmond, and Bowdoinham starting Sept. 29. The series will examine Social Security’s impact on individuals, the economy, and future generations of workers.
The series is presented by the Sagadahoc County Democratic Committee in collaboration with AARP Maine, The Maine Women’s Lobby, Maine Center for Economic Policy, and New Ventures Maine.
On Sept. 29, at Patten Free Library in Bath, Mark Sullivan of the Maine Center for Economic Policy will help to lead the discussion.
On Oct. 6, Janet Els of AARP Maine will participate in the conversation at Topsham Public Library. The third session, on Oct. 13, at the Isaac F. Umberhine Public Library in Richmond, will feature Eloise Vitelli of New Ventures Maine. Vitelli will also be at the final meeting Oct. 20, at Bowdoinham Public Library.
All meetings will run from 6-7:30 p.m. Admission is free.
While there is no requirement to read supporting material prior to attending the meetings, those wishing to do so are encouraged to read Social SecurityWorks , by Nancy Altman and Eric Kingson.
