Windham’s Meghan Hoffses kept her team’s perfect record alive, scoring in double overtime on Friday evening, Sept. 18, to narrowly knock off visiting TA 1-0.

“It was a fairly even match,” said Windham head coach Deb Lebel of the game overall, before describing the goal: “Lyndsey Arsenault received a through-ball that got behind the defense on the left side of the field. She took two long strides, cut in and ripped a shot that nearly went over the keeper’s head, but was swatted back to the six by the keeper instead. Once there, it was a dogfight for the ball and freshman Meghan Hoffses came out victorious when she leaned forward and got her head on the end of the ball, placing it perfectly into the back of the net.”

The Lady Eagles were Class A State Champs in 2013 and 2014; they’ve not lost now in 42 games. They’re 6-0 this season, having outscored their opponents 23-2. The team’s rivalries with TA and Scarborough in particular make for reliably spectacular viewing – some of the most thrilling in Maine fall sports.

Windham welcomed Cheverus on Wednesday the 23rd, after Current Publishing’s print deadlines, and will host Deering a week later, on the 30th.
