NEW GLOUCESTER – On Saturday, Sept. 26, at Pineland Farms in New Gloucester the Cancer Community Center will hold its annual Fight Back Festival, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The festival includes a day of family fun, along with a 5K run/walk along the trails at Pineland Farms, a 1-mile stroll and the Not Dead Yet bike rides of 60, 25 and 10 miles respectively.
For children, the festival includes a variety of activities provided including a Kids Fun Run. A healthy lunch is included in the bike/walk/run registration fee and a couple Maine-based bands will provide entertainment.
The Fight Back Festival is the largest fundraiser of the year for the Cancer Community Center.
“In order to provide free programs and services all year long, we need to raise an annual budget of $670,000 and the Fight Back Festival accounts for 20 percent of that budget,” said Nicole Avery, executive director at the cancer center.
“We very much depend on the generosity of the teams and individuals who raise funds through their participation in the festival,” she added.
