BRUNSWICK — Brunswick Executive Airport will receive a Department of Transportation grant to help renovate hangar number four.

According to a news release from Congresswoman Chellie Pingree Monday, $1.1 million will go to the former 50,000 square foot Navy maintenance hangar.

Improvements include a new, energy efficient radiant heat system and accommodations in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.

“Brunswick is a great example of how a former military base can be redeveloped to create jobs and economic opportunity for a community. This is truly an investment that will pay off many times over. It’s exciting to see this hangar renovated so it can support the growing aerospace industry in Maine. It helps create and preserve the good paying jobs that we need in our state,” Pingree said.
